Eglinton Update July 2005

7th Holyrood Summer School
15 - 19 August 2005

The Holyrood Summer School, organised and hosted by Eglinton, is an annual forum where the political, economic and social issues and policies that will affect us all are discussed and debated with senior figures from business and public life in Scotland.

The 2005 school again boasts a wide range of high calibre contributors from both the Private and Public Sector – Cathy Jamieson (Minister for Justice) Andrew McLaughlin (Chief Economist RBS) and Mary Dickson (Managing Director, FirstScotrail) are just some of the contributors who value the opportunity to explore their themes in the unique environment the School provides.

The programme for 2005 will address the following key themes:

  • Scotland in the world economy
  • Scotland’s governance and accountability
  • Delivery and modernisation
  • Leadership and change
  • Criminal Justice
  • Enterprise
  • Europe
  • Health
  • Regeneration
  • Transport

Eglinton wins exclusive rights to Pi2

Eglinton is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the exclusive rights for Scotland of Personal Influence and Impact, known as Pi2.

Pi2 is a three-day programme for senior and high-potential individuals and takes a strategic view of influencing needs by focusing on the ‘target’ for the influence and ensures you select the most appropriate from a range of influencing strategies learned on the programme.

Pi2 introduces a robust and flexible model of influencing that clearly links the twin demands of sophisticated behavioural skills with the means to conduct considered analysis to inform your strategy and tactics.

Over the three-day programme participants will combine explorations of the influencing styles within the model with practice sessions in a supportive environment with informed feedback on approach to promote confidence in using the range of styles available.

The first public programme is being held on the 23rd to 25th August at Eglinton – to book or for more information about Pi2 click here.

Executive Coaching Contract extended

Following a period of rapid change across the business and a strategic focus on delivering further performance improvement, Scottish Water commissioned Eglinton to deliver a performance and development coaching programme for 50 senior managers. The Business Impact Development Programme (BIDP) included 180-degree feedback on each manager's style and performance and guidance in the creation of a personal development plan. Each manager was then supported through a programme of individual coaching sessions with an Eglinton coach.

Coaches have stimulated, challenged and encouraged participants to change, experiment and take calculated risks with their own styles and in leading their teams. This has resulted in increased levels of confidence and skill displayed by BIDP managers in leading teams and projects across the business. They now have a greater range of tools, techniques and styles at their disposal than before and are able to apply these with skill and enthusiasm to existing as well as new business challenges.

The success of the BIDP, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from the participants has resulted in Scottish Water extending the BIDP programme of coaching sessions for each manager. For more information click here.
