As professional HR consultants, we are often asked to measure, justify or simply explain the value of training. It’s often the first budget to be cut when times are tough or not carried out because there are more commercial demands at the time.
Our speakers believe this is short sighted and have a range of interesting stories to tell to reinforce their message about the positive value of training.
Bill Mitchell is the HR Director of Dundas & Wilson, a major UK law practice. He took up this role in March 2005 on his return from New York, where he spent 4 years as the Global HR Director for Blackrock, an international asset management firm. Bill has a firm ethos on training and development which he carries over into his personal life where he coaches rugby.
Peter Russian is the Chief Executive of Investors in People Scotland. He has overall responsibility for the long-term growth of Investors in People in Scotland. Previously, Peter was Director of Development at Investors in People UK. He was responsible for the review of the Investors in People Standard in April 2000 and for the development of the Leadership and Management and Work-Life Balance models.
