Performance Management

 

Managing performance is arguably one of the hardest things a manager has to do and opportunities to make a positive impact on key staff are often lost. The practice of performance management requires a focus on two key aspects: Process and Behaviour.

Reaching high levels of performance requires a clear focus on what the organisation is attempting to achieve as well as the skill and capacity to articulate that in writing. Too often, the meaning behind organisational and individual

performance objectives is lost in translation. We believe that the message and the messenger are both important in managing performance and that there needs to be a clear alignment of "what" needs to be done (the objectives) and "how" that is achieved (the behaviours). Managers can seize or lose the opportunity in these sessions to provide clear focus on setting targets and objectives while also taking care to motivate the employee.


At Eglinton, we work with clients to design bespoke systems for managing performance that take into account organisational culture and circumstances without ever losing sight of the fact that performance is dependent on people.
